NHL Rankings Update

St. Louis Blues take first place in this weeks rankings.

The NHL season is moving further along, and since I have not touched on the sport, I will give an update on rankings.

According the the Power Rankings created by ESPN these are the spots of the following hockey teams:

The top ten:

(Stats go wins-ties-losses)

  1. Blues: 6-1-2, their winning record sets them ahead, as well as their talent to stop many shots from turning into goals.
  2. Red Wings: 6-2-1, the Wings rank third in the league for goals per game. This helps them reach the number 2 sport.
  3. Kings: 8-3-0, although they have the most wins in the league, their star player is injured. Wait and see how well they do without Drew Doughty.
  4. Bruins: 6-2-0, they lead the league in penalty kills and goals against.
  5. Lightning: 7-2-1, they have good teamwork, which leads to many goals scored and a great defense.
  6. Sharks: 5-3-1, they rank top in power plays in the league. They’ve also made a tremendous comeback in the past week.
  7. Predators: 5-2-3, with a couple losses this week, they lost their spot near the top.
  8. Capitals: 7-4-0, they made a huge comeback this week after being down quite a bit. This is a team to look out for.
  9. Blackhawks: 7-5-1, as a Chicago fan, I’m sad to say we lost a lot of talent. This is hurting the hawks this season.
  10. Flyers: 6-4-1, they are in the top ten for goals for goals in the league, which keeps them hanging by a thread in the top ten overall.

Make sure to keep up with the NHL season this year. This is sure to be an interesting season.

Because I favor the Hawks, here’s a video compilation of the Hawks against the Sharks:

Although it’s early, who do you think will make the playoffs this season? Leave a comment!
